Closing the Achievement Gap: Recruiting and Retaining Teachers of Color

The achievement gap begins before a student ever enters a kindergarten classroom, and we must employ new and innovative strategies to significantly improve outcomes for all students. Research consistently shows that persistent educational attainment gaps can be reduced or eliminated when students are taught by an effective teacher of the same race. This forum will feature programs that actively work in the areas of recruitment and retention of teachers of color.
