Glass Castle: A Memoir, The
Annotation:
This memoir highlights the transient, impoverished lifestyle that author Jeannette Walls experienced while growing up in the Western states, in rural West Virginia, and in New York City. While her parents struggled to maintain jobs and support their family, the author and her siblings developed coping mechanisms and skills to break out of the cycle of poverty. This book would be valuable either in a sociology class or a study of economic issues and standards of living in the United States.
