Title:
Antigone
Annotation:
In the third play in Sophocles' Oedipus Cycle, Antigone, the daughter of Oedipus and Jocasta, argues for the moral right to bury her brothers who died in a war fought during the Homeric Grecian epoch. Her uncle, Creon, who became the king of Thebes, opposes the burial. The conflict between Antigone and Creon on the right of law is the central theme of the play. (Circa 442 B.C.)
